Rumour Tuesday

The dream is over. Dante will be leaving the club this summer in search of regular first team football, or so was the talk at the end of season party.

Dante, despite being the popular cult hero with the supporters, having the best hair and my wife’s choice of shirt to sponsor, has been used in various positions to act as cover and yet to hold down a first team place. If it is true then I am sure we wish him well!

Work Party… Take 3

Leatherhead FC needs you… and you! This Saturday marks the third attempt to get the pitch ready for the next season. Dave believes a few hours of work is needed to fill any divots and get them seeded.

Work starts around 9.30 and there is usually a rewarding cup of tea in it for you plus the satisfaction of seeing the fruits of your labour come August.

See you there!

Rumour Tuesday

Its back! This week takes a lazy look at the message board and a suggestion that an ex-manager is going to come back as a player. Looking at who we have had all fingers would point at Paul Harford.

Although he was at the 60th party he has just taken a post at Sutton and hasn't played since he left us a couple of seasons ago.

Work Party

Work party season starts again this Saturday with work starting on the pitch. A small advance party set things up last Saturday but they need your help to get things ready for what we all hope will be our promotion season. Work will start from 9am.

There shouldn't be the mound of topsoil to work through as in past years but certainly enough to patch up the wear and tear of the last few months.

The one thing we wont be able to put on the pitch is water as we have been hit with a Drought Order. With a long dry summer ahead it could make for a hard pitch come August...
Good God Y'all

It has been confirmed (as Rod pointed out to me) that Warren has departed to play with Ramsgate. This was reported on the message board but I thought the distance from London made it improbable...

Good luck to him in his new club.

Ryman 1 shows the way

Kingstonian, fresh from their disappointment of missing out on the playoffs, gave AFC Wimbledon a shock last night beating them 1-0 in the final of the Surrey Senior Cup.

It must have been a well attended game as Woking station looked packed with fans as I waited for a train in yesterdays chaos caused by a power failure.

Poll Result

Leatherhead fans got it wrong, predicting that in form Dover would win the play-offs but they fell at the last hurdle to Tonbridge.

This weeks poll is about the only thing worth talking about at the moment... which league will we be playing in. The Southeast with its trips to Kent or Southwest and trips to Taunton?

What The Summer Brings...

The summer is hard work for us football webmasters with little news to keep the site updated but I will try my best with Rumour Tuesday making a comeback but not every week as they do get a bit diluted come July. If you have any news items then drop me a line.

The messageboard will continue to run all summer with the hottest item being how Tonbridge managed to beat Angels in the playoffs. It must be the old cliche that Dover just didn't turn up on the day!

The Camera Never Lies

Here are some pictures of the events of last Saturday...

Jealous Dom?

Still looking for supporters votes in the player of the year award.

The legend... with Rod and Bill

The band.

Dickies dancing... or were his feet on fire?

60th Party

It was a full house in the Preston Cross Hotel for the the Tanners 60th Anniversary. The bookies were happy as Tim's speech came in at 19 minutes. The most entertainly part of the formal night was to hear from Leatherhead Legend Bill Miller and his tales of how he controlled the likes of Chris Kelly in our glory days.

Then to the awards...
Players Player of Year: Jamie Beer
Supporters Player of Year: MCS
Most Star Struck Supporter: Rod

Then to the music and a fine band played out the night with a blend of 70's punk followed by a DJ with some more modern stuff.

Interestly, the footballers lived up to their reputation. When they are young they have stylish hair and attractive girlfriends but when they grow older and lose their good looks they learn how to sing like Frank Sinatra. Needless to say Woodsy closed out the night with his rendition of I Did It My Way.

Pictures to follow...
